Freezin’ for a Reason

Two years ago one of my friends invited me to join her for the Polar Plunge.  I wasn’t really sure what I was getting myself into but was up for some random fun.  I found out it was a fundraiser for the Special Olympics in Ohio and that the one in our area was in March.

I pre-registered and paid the entrance fee (minimum $50 donation if a student; $75 if nonstudent) and showed up the morning of the event.  That particular year the local event was at Watson Pools in Centerville.  As we showed up we admired all the different costumes that individuals and teams were wearing.
Our event was in March and that morning it was raining and about 40 degrees outside.  We lined up and when it was our turn jumped in the freezing water of the pool (in our costumes!)  We didn’t stay in super long but it was long enough!  We received a long-sleeved t-shirt for participating and to prove we really did do the Polar Plunge!

This event takes place in 9 different locations in Ohio (January through March of this year) but also has locations across the country.  What a great way to raise money and have fun!
This man that was working it said we smiled the most out of all the participants that day!!
