Learning Experiences...

Well everything I try doesn't always go as planned.  In fact sometimes ideas seem better in my head then when they are carried out...
Like that one time in college when my roommates and I ran out of pots to cook lasagna.  I suggested we use a glass casserole dish to boil the water for noodles which might have worked if it had been in the oven, but no we tried to boil the noodles on the stove top.  Well as soon as the water started to boil, the glass decided it was hot enough and exploded across our kitchen!! Shards of glass went everywhere! At that point we decided to ask the neighbors if we could borrow a pot! If nothing else we made a fun memory and learned something practical for our future lives in the kitchen.

I recently went on a trip to Gatlinburg, TN with some friends and thought it would be fun to get a tattoo. Well I haven't gotten one because of the whole permanent factor and I really hadn't found any meaningful reason to get one. So I convinced two friends to get henna tattoos with me! (They are temporary but last a two-four weeks normally depending on where they are.) The trick with henna tattoos is that you have to let them dry for 20-30 min before you cover them with clothing.  It was cold and rainy so really the only skin I could think of that would be easy to air dry was my wrist.  Plus I have some friends that have one on their wrist and theirs looked pretty cool.

Well I didn't see any designs I totally loved but settled on a flower and vine design. It was all good until I started thinking about going back to work.  I work in a pretty conservative/traditional environment and didn't think it would be a great idea to show it off on the job.  Of course my first day back would be the one where it was warm enough not to wear a long sleeved shirt! Oh well I wore a long sleeved shirt and decided if I ever do get a real tattoo, it won't go on my wrist.

So all in all it was fun to do and helped me realize that if I do get more serious about getting a tattoo I should probably get the henna version first so I can decide if I really like it! : )
